Report: Tottenham set to rival Man United for 21-year-old Valencia player

According to Marca, Tottenham Hotspur have now entered the race for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Spurs have reportedly agreed on a two-year deal with Fraser Forster, who is expected to sign for the club on a free transfer (Football Insider).

However, if Marca’s update is to be believed, that might not be the end of Tottenham’s goalkeeper pursuits this summer, with the club also expressing an interest in Mamardashvili.

The 21-year-old has impressed at the Mestalla during the 2021/22 season, having shared the number one duties with Jasper Cillessen, making a total of 18 league appearances (Transfermarkt).

The report asserts that Manchester United are keen on Mamardashvili but Spurs are now set to challenge the Red Devils.

Marca claim that Valencia need to make a profit of €70m (£59.6m) this summer to balance their budget and would be open to selling the Georgian international.

It is explained that Spurs are eyeing the 21-year-old as a potential long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.

The report also suggests that Tottenham have good a relationship with Valencia, having loaned Bryan Gil to the club for the second half of the campaign.

Signing Forster may not completely rule out a move for Mamardashvili as Spurs may be eyeing the Valencia man as one for the future. Perhaps, the club will want to snap up the 21-year-old and loan him out for the next couple of seasons so that he can continue his development.
