According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are set to sell Serge Aurier this summer. despite the Ivorian being the first-choice right-back for the majority of the season.
This campaign has been a topsy-turvy season for Aurier just as it has been for Spurs in general.
The Ivorian successfully saw off competition from summer signing Matt Doherty to remain the club’s starting right-back and seemed to be a reinvigorated player in the first few months of the campaign.
However, his form dipped in December and just when it seemed like he was getting back to his best with the defender reportedly having a falling out with Jose Mourinho.
Aurier now seems to have put his issues with the Spurs boss behind him and produced another solid display in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Burnley on Sunday in what was his first game back from injury.
However, Football Insider now claim that Mourinho and his coaching staff consider the former Paris Saint-Germain man to be “uncoachable” and do not want him to be part of the squad next season.
The report suggests that Spurs have no intention of offering Aurier a new deal and with the 28-year-old set to enter into the final year of his contract at the end of the season, the club are prepared to cash in on him.
Spurs Web Opinion
Aurier’s performances this season have generally been good but I do suspect that Mourinho does not trust the right-back. Given the speculation linking Spurs with summer moves for the likes of Max Aarons and Lucas Vazquez, I would not be surprised if Aurier is sold at the end of the season.
