Report: Tottenham set to table £25.7million bid tomorrow for defender

Tottenham Hotspur are set to make a new offer the Barcelona defender Emerson Royal tomorrow, according to TNT Sports reporter Marcelo Bechler.

The report claims that Barcelona did not initially wish to sell the Brazilian international, but now want at least €30million (£25.7million).

Sky Sports reported earlier today that the North Londoners were in talks with Barcelona, having proposed two different options; a straight purchase and one that would see Serge Aurier join the Catalan giants.

Aurier is within the last twelve months of his contract at Tottenham, with Fabrizio Romano recently claiming that Barcelona had rejected the offer which included the Ivorian international.

Royal joined Barcelona in 2019 from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro and has been on loan at Real Betis for the past three seasons.

Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo is said to want to bolster his defensive options ahead of the transfer window closing (Telegraph).

SpursWeb Opinion

Tottenham certainly need futher reinforcements before the transfer window closes, however I would much prefer to see the club looking to address the lack of a creative midfielder which has been desperately lacking since the departure of Christian Eriksen.

In tight matches, such as the recent fixtures against Wolves and Watford, we need a midfield maestro who can unlock a defence with a killer pass for the likes of Son and Kane to latch onto.
