Report: Tottenham showing interest in former Man United forward

Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in former Manchester United striker Memphis Depay, according to a report in FC Inter News.

Depay did not have the best of 18 months at Old Trafford but he has developed considerably as a player since his move to Lyon back in 2016.

The Dutchman, who scored 20 goals and registered 11 assists in Ligue 1 last season, will be a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Spurs have seemingly had their eye on Depay for a while, with the striker being linked with a move to Tottenham as far back as 2019.

FC Inter News now report that the Lyon star expected to sign for Barcelona but with the move not yet materialising, he is now assessing his other options.

Spurs and Inter Milan are both said to be showing interest in snapping up Depay, with Inter having reached out to the Netherlands international’s representatives.

The striker is reportedly demanding a three-year deal worth €5 million per season (£4.3m) to sign on the dotted line.

I see Depay as almost being a perfect fit for Conte’s 3-5-2 system because of his ability to run the channels, hold up the ball and attack in one vs one situation. If Conte does arrive, I think we might need to enter the market for such a forward to cover for Kane and Son.
