Tottenham Hotspur have registered an interest in singing Schalke striker Matthew Hoppe during the summer transfer window, according to a report by Transfermarkt.

Hope has made a fantastic impression since breaking into the Schalke side earlier this season.

The striker is currently Schalke’s top-scorer, having found the back of the net five times in 15 Bundesliga appearances for the Royal Blues.

90 min reported last month that Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester City have been monitoring the 20-year-old’s progress and have been hugely impressed with what they have seen.

Transfermarkt claim that with Schalke looking destined to be relegated, Hoppe’s representatives have an agreement with the club that the striker would be able to leave in the summer should they receive a suitable offer.

The report suggests that Spurs could be set to compete with Liverpool and Norwich City for the youngster’s signature while Ajax could also make a move for the forward.

It is suggested that Schalke will let the American leave for around €7-€10m (£6-£8.5m).

Spurs Web Opinion

It is surprising to see Spurs being linked with young forwards like Hoppe and Wigan’s Kyle Joseph given that we have two talented young strikers at the club in Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott. Perhaps that suggests that those at Spurs have doubts over whether Parrott can make it at the top level.
