It seems Tottenham Hotspur fans will get to see Yves Bissouma in action again this weekend, for the first time in over a month. The midfielder has returned to the club after international duty for Mali, and has reportedly been passed fit to play on Saturday.
Bissouma has been representing Mali at the African Cup of Nations throughout January, but his run in the competition came to an end on Saturday with a defeat to the hosts, Ivory Coast.
Since exiting the tournament, it was revealed by Mali head coach, Eric Chelle, that Bissouma had been playing through a bout of malaria. However, it was believed the case was not too serious for the Spurs man (The Sun).
Bissouma was expected to carry out fairly standard assessments upon his return to North London to determine whether he would be available for selection at the weekend, when Ange Postecoglou‘s men take on Brighton (Standard).
Today, a report from The Athletic revealed that Bissouma had returned to Tottenham on Wednesday and was currently going through the aforementioned assessment process.

Now, the latest from the Daily Mail suggests those assessments have gone well for Bissouma, and the 27-year-old is now looking likely to feature for Spurs in their next Premier League match.
The report reveals Bissouma was present at the Tottenham Hotspur training facility on Wednesday and was “being assessed” following his return from Qatar and the AFCON tournament.
It is now thought Bissouma “is set to be cleared to return to action” this weekend to face his former club.

That midfield roster is getting mighty competitive now, but I would give Bissouma the nod this weekend ahead of Rodrigo Bentancur. The Uruguayan looks a little off the pace and could do with the rest.
