Report: Tottenham star has ambitions to play until he is 40 years old

According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane hopes to continue playing football until he is 40-years-old.

Kane has arguably been in the best form of his career this season which is understandable since the Tottenham star is now coming into his peak years.

The England captain, who will be 28 in the summer, has often been deployed in a slightly deeper role by Jose Mourinho, which has allowed his vision and passing to come to the fore.

Despite playing almost as a number ten, Kane has continued finding the back of the net with regularity, having already notched up 26 goals in all competitions so far.

Jose Mourinho said last week that the Tottenham star is the type of striker who can have a long career in the game due to the fact that he does not rely on his pace or intensity, attributes that tends to wear off once players hit their thirties.

The Athletic now reveal that Kane is committed to getting as many years out of his career as possible which is why the striker stands out for his intense focus on training and fitness, his diet, and his abstinence from alcohol.

Despite the ankle injuries he is suffered in recent years, the striker is said to believe that he can play on until he is 40 years old and is prepared to do everything to make that happen.

Spurs Web Opinion

No one is going to bet against Kane playing until his late thirties given his discipline and professionalism. He could well evolve into an attacking midfielder in his later years to sustain his career.

However, the one potential negative about Kane planning to play till 40 is that he might still think that he has one big move left in him and could thus decide to call time on his Spurs career if the team is not moving in the right direction.
