It appears as if the damage was done for Kieran Trippier last season, as he endured his worst campaign yet in a Tottenham shirt.
This came as a shock to many fans after Tripps performed admirably for his country at the Russia 2018 World Cup, even sweeping home a free-kick for England in the semi-final.
However, the right-back was unable to recreate anything close to that form in a Lilywhite shirt, hampered by injuries and fatigue for the 2018/19 season.
Despite a poor season, Trippier has been linked to a host of big European clubs this summer, including Spain’s Atletico Madrid (Mirror).
Football London now report that Tripps could have a medical at Atletico as early as today, as he nears a Tottenham exit.
The 28-year-old is believed to be worth around £25m this summer, which would not be a bad return from the £3.5m Spurs paid for him back in 2015 from Burnley (BBC).
Spurs Web Opinion:
I would personally be sad to see him go, but wish him all the best in the future. Thanks for the memories, Tripps!
