Report: Tottenham star still an option for Premier League rivals – quick deal needed

Tottenham Hotspur defender, Toby Alderwerield, has just the one year remaining on his current deal in North London.

While his contract was originally set to expire this summer, the club decided to trigger an extension clause back in early 2019, keeping him for an extra season.

However, this wasn’t the only clause triggered by Spurs, as Alderweireld subsequently became available for transfer for just a £25m buyout up until the final two weeks of the window. This clause runs out on July 26th, giving rival clubs another nine days to swoop (Guardian).

Sky Sports reported last week that Roma were in talks with Spurs over a deal, but there could be other suitors far closer to home.

Football London report that Manchester United could still turn to Alderweireld if they fail in their pursuit of Harry Maguire.

Leicester manager, Brendan Rodgers, confirmed this week that two bids had been received for the England centre-back, but they are far from the desired valuation (LeicestershireLive).
