Report: Tottenham star suffers freak injury ahead of new season

Tottenham Hotspur had their problems with injuries last season, as did Spurs right-back Serge Aurier.

However, it appears that Aurier has now picked up another problem, this time all of his own making (Reuters).

The Spurs right-back is currently away on international duty with the Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations, with his side safely into the quarter-finals.

However, it appears that the last 16 clash against Mali was a frustrating one for Aurier to watch, as he was named on the bench.

Aurier wasn’t happy with his teammates’ performances on the pitch, despite Ivory Coast winning the match, which led to him hitting his fist against the table.

The full-back subsequently injured his wrist, thankfully not something that should keep him out of the starting line up, but certainly a less than ideal scenario.

Aurier is set to return to pre-season late this month, with Ivory Coast still having the potential to go all the way in the competition.

He said (Reuters): “I hit the table. We said a few truths to each other. Sometimes it feels good and I think the group needed it. I think I’m feeling better. There is still time before Thursday.”
