Tottenham have revealed on their official website that Guglielmo Vicario and the first-team goalkeeping coach Rob Burch gave a special coaching clinic to all the goalkeepers in the club’s academy.
Vicario has settled in brilliantly since arriving at Spurs in the summer and the 27-year-old is already emerging as one of the leaders of this young Tottenham side.
The Italian has also quickly become a fan favourite, given the passion he exudes on the pitch and the candid manner in which he speaks.
It now looks like the Spurs number one is also doing his part to help the youngsters coming through the ranks at the club.
Vicario attends session with Tottenham youngsters
It has emerged that the club’s academy coaches organised a session, which involved all goalkeepers at Hotspur Way from Under-9s to Under-21s, with all of them having a chance to meet with Vicario.
The 27-year-old and Burch also observed the youngsters train at the Hotspur Way pitches and provided some guidance.
Finally, Vicario and Burch also hosted a Q&A session with all the participants, fielding a number of questions from all the academy goalkeepers.
Speaking about the session, academy goalkeeping coach Dean Brill said: “We’d like to extend our thanks to both ‘Vic’ and Rob Burch for kindly giving up their evening to come and help our Academy goalkeepers with their development.
“We kept it a secret from the boys that they would be attending, so it was absolutely brilliant to see their reaction when Vic emerged onto the training pitch to greet everyone.
“The advice and guidance that both Vic and Rob gave to our young keepers was invaluable. We’ve been lucky enough to work with Hugo Lloris in the past as well, plus of course, we continue to benefit from the tutelage of Pat Jennings who comes in to work with the keepers on a part-time basis.
“So for our boys to be able to soak in all of this wisdom and knowledge of what it takes to be an elite goalkeeper at Tottenham Hotspur, it really is immensely beneficial.”

This is a fantastic initiative by the club and it was brilliant of Vicario and Burch to lend their time to the session. I am sure that their presence and the wisdom they shared would have made a big impression on some of the young goalkeepers who attended.
