Report: Tottenham starlet Devine facing spell on sidelines with major injury

Tottenham starlet, Alfie Devine, is set to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury, according to Football Insider.

The 17-year-old joined Spurs from Wigan last year and made his senior debut in January, but has spent the majority of his time in the club’s youth system.

Devine, who has been a regular for the Under-23 side this season, has missed the last three games with what was an unexplained absence.

However, Football Insider have revealed that the midfielder has suffered a major hamstring injury which ruled him out of the side’s last handful of fixtures.

Devine’s last appearance came in the 4-3 defeat against West Ham in mid-October – a game in which he played 64 minutes while grabbing a goal.

It will serve as a blow for manager Wayne Burnett, who looks set to be without one of his key players for a large chunk of the remaining campaign.

Up until this point, Devine has tallied six goals and three assists in just eight Premier League 2 games this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is really gutting news for Devine and Spurs who appear to be doing well this season. He is still very young and hopefully, he will be able to recover well, but the club need to make sure the injury is managed to prevent problems occurring down the line.
