Son Woong-Jung, the father of Tottenham star, Son Heung-min, is set to publish a book about his life and philosophy, Korean outlet Yunhap News have revealed.
Son’s father is known as a difficult task-master, with the Spurs star crediting his emergence as a World Class footballer to his dad’s work with him as a youngster.
Woong-jung is now set to publish a book titled ‘Everything Starts With The Basics’, which will discuss the principles that he holds dear in life – essence, sincerity, humility, and gratitude.
The report reveals that the book will also touch on how the 59-year-old emerged out of poverty to become a footballer himself, including stories from his professional days, the difficult times he faced after retirement, and his study of soccer while helping to develop his son as a footballer.
The book is also expected to include the training methods that Woong-Jung learned and put his son through, which enabled the 29-year-old to become the player he is today.
The book will be officially published on October 15 and pre-orders started last week through online bookstores.
Reacting to the upcoming book, the Tottenham forward is quoted as saying: “Reading this book, I was able to learn about the past years of my father that I did not know about, and I was able to re-engage the thoughts that my father always emphasised in my mind.”
Spurs Web Opinion
While the book is obviously aimed at a Korean audience, I suspect an English translation will certainly do well, with plenty of Spurs fans potentially being keen on learning more about Son’s childhood and upbringing.
