Report: Tottenham ‘step up efforts’ to sign prolific Algerian striker

Mohamed Amoura has emerged as a target for Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and the North London side are believed to be increasing their efforts to sign the striker from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Ever since Harry Kane departed Tottenham last summer, the Lilywhites have been linked with a slew of different strikers who could fill the void left behind by the England captain.

So far, Ange Postecoglou has relied on the talents of his captain, Heung-min Son, and Brazilian striker, Richarlison, to provide the goals for his new-look Spurs side.

The pair have delivered 24 goals between them so far this season, and Postecoglou also has plenty of goals coming from the likes of Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, and more.

Spurs want Mohamed Amoura

Still, it is widely believed that Spurs will look to add a new striker to their roster this summer, and they may be looking at the Belgian league for a potential target if reports are to be believed.

The latest update comes from Fennec Football, who claim Mohamed Amoura is now on Tottenham’s radar. The Algerian striker has now scored 22 goals this season for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

The report claims Spurs have sent scouts to watch Amoura of late and have now “stepped up their efforts” after watching him play in the Europa Conference League against Fenerbache.

While his side lost that game 3-0, it is thought that has done nothing to “dampen” Tottenham’s interest. Apparently, the next few weeks “could be crucial” for Amoura and his future.

More information comes from La Redacteur, who suggest Spurs have “seriously started” to consider making a move for Amoura. The player is thought to be valued at around €10m (£8.5m).

Amoura’s numbers are looking impressive this season, but the Belgian league is very different to the Premier League. Still, he is young enough to develop and improve and adjust to new challenges, and if he is as cheap as that report suggests, he may be worth a punt.
