Report: Tottenham still keen on signing up these two free transfers in the summer

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are still keen on offering Chelsea stars, Oliver Giroud and Willian, multi-year contracts this summer in the hope of persuading them to make the switch to North London.

Spurs were linked with Giroud in January as they looked to sign a striker to replace the injured Harry Kane (Daily Mail), but they ultimately ended their search for a forward empty-handed.

The Chelsea striker revealed in an interview with Telefoot earlier this month that the Blues blocked him from making a move to Spurs in January.

TEAMtalk now reveals that the 33-year-old has several suitors across Europe and is still considering his options. It is asserted however that the Lilywhites are the only option that Giroud is considering in England.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo have already installed Tottenham as the favourites to secure Willian’s signature.

The Brazilian has revealed that talks with Chelsea over a new deal have ground to a halt after the club refused to offer him a three-year deal (Gazeta Esportiva).

TEAMtalk now claims that Jose Mourinho remains keen on reuniting with the 31-year-old this summer and Tottenham are thus expected to make an offer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given the financial constraint on clubs due to the coronavirus shutdown, we might be forced to look for bargains and free transfers. The club would probably view both Giroud and Willian as opportunities they won’t want to miss out on. While I think Giroud will probably choose to go abroad, I can see us snapping up Willian.
