Report: Spurs still working on multiple centre-back targets – including Spanish star

Tottenham Hotspur are still actively working on a potential transfer for Villarreal defender Pau Torres, according to Sky Sports‘ live transfer centre (29/6/22 – 15:08).

The report claims that Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici is pursuing multiple targets in his attempt to recruit a new left-sided central defender to bolster Antonio Conte’s ranks.

Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet along with Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni and RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol are all also mentioned as targets to bolster the north Londoners backline.

The Daily Mail claimed earlier this month that Spurs have been closely watching Torres and could look to send Giovani Lo Celso to the Yellow Submarine in exchange as part of their efforts to sign the 25-year-old.

Lo Celso had a successful six-month loan spell at the La Liga outfit, having joined in February and helped them reach the semi-final of the Champions League.

The left-sided central defensive berth is one of the most frequently discussed transfer rumours of the Spurs rumour mill, which is partly down to the way Paratici likes of negotiate with his spiderweb-like approach of entering talks with multiple sides before deciding on one particular target.
