Report: Tottenham striker target may prefer to continue playing in Serie A

The Athletic have revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic may prefer to remain in the Serie A over moving to Premier League.

Antonio Conte has reportedly asked Tottenham to snap up Vlahovic when the transfer window reopens in January.

Juventus are thought to be Spurs’ biggest competitors for the Serbian international, with sources from Italy previously claiming that Juve are worried they could be pipped by the Lilywhites to the signing of the centre-forward after Conte’s arrival in North London.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported last week that Massimiliano Allegri’s side had made their opening offer for Vlahovic, which was thought to be around €50m (£42.3m).

Despite this, some publications assert that Fiorentina would prefer to sell the striker to Spurs over the Old Lady.

The Atheltic’s latest update has backed up that claim, stating that Vincenzo Italiano’s side would prefer to sell Vlahovic outside the Serie A. However, the report says that the striker himself might prefer to continue plying his trade in Italian football.

Given that Vlahovic’s contract with Fiorentina does not have long left to rum, the striker is ultimately going to have a big say on where he ends up. If his preference is to remain in Italy, that is certainly a huge advantage to Juventus.
