Report: Tottenham suffer blow in rumoured pursuit of summer free agent

According to Sport Italia (15/12/22 as relayed by journalist Ronan Murphy), Borussia Dortmund are expected to win the race for Tottenham target Daichi Kamada.

Kamada has continued to be linked with a move to Spurs since the summer transfer window closed, with The Daily Express reporting back in September that the North London club were battling Leeds United for the Frankfurt star’s signature.

The 26-year-old has been in fine form for the Bundesliga club this season and impressed in the two Champions League group stage clashes against the Lilywhites.

Reporting earlier this month, Bild named Spurs and Dortmund as the two leading contenders for Kamada’s signature.

The report stated that the Japanese international, whose current deal at Deutsche Bank Park runs out at the end of the season, was looking unlikely to sign a new deal in Frankfurt.

However, Sport Italia’s latest update comes as a blow to Tottenham’s pursuit of Kamada. The publication states that Dortmund now look set to win the race for the attacking midfielder, with the Frankfurt star expected to move to the Westfalenstadion on a free next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be quite disappointed if this news is true as Kamada would have been a perfect fit for the profile of attacking midfielder Conte is likely after. I would have certainly taken the Frankfurt star over the likes of McKennie, Malinovskyi and Kessie. Perhaps, Spurs did reach out to the player’s entourage and he preferred to remain in the Bundesliga.
