Report: Tottenham suffer major blow in their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes

Tottenham Hotspur may soon have to replace their chief playmaker, Christian Eriksen, as the Great Dane looks set to leave North London on a free in the summer.

Eriksen’s contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he can talk to non-English rivals about a pre-contract agreement as early as January.

One man Spurs were said to have their eye on, even putting in a bid in the summer, was Sporting Lisbon captain and star, Bruno Fernandes (Metro).

Sky Sports claim that the attacking midfielder scored 32 goals last season and already has another nine from this current campaign. The report also states that Fernandes was a target of Manchester United as well as Spurs.

However, Tottenham have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of the player as he has now signed a new deal with his current club.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs still go back in for him in January or the summer.
