Report: Tottenham target and Real Madrid attacker responds to reported interest

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a deal for Real Madrid striker, Mariano Diaz, in recent weeks, with the 25-year-old struggling for game time with Los Blancos (AS).

Spurs currently only have Harry Kane and out of favour Vincent Janssen has senior strikers at the club, with Lucas Moura and Heung Min Son able to cover.

With Harry Kane suffering from reoccurring ankle ligament issues, Pochettino may be interested in bringing in another out-and-out striker this summer.

Arsenal were also reportedly offered Diaz by Real Madrid for just £18m this summer, with the Mirror stating that he is no longer in Zidane’s plans.

However, AS now report that the striker is not interested in a move away from the Bernabeu this summer and would rather stay and fight for his place. If true, this would kill any chance of a deal for Tottenham and Arsenal.

It is still unclear as to whether Tottenham will have Fernando Llorente on the books next season (Telegraph).
