Report: Tottenham target given green light to leave Barcelona

Recent reports in the press suggest that there are likely to be a lot of incoming and outgoings at Tottenham this summer (Daily Mail), as the club attempts to rebuild their squad after two windows of complete inactivity.

It looks like Pochettino has demanded a pacey wing forward in the summer among other upgrades as the club have been linked with the likes of Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen (Football.London), Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech (Calcio Mercato) and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon (Evening Standard) in recent weeks.

One wide man Tottenham were said to be interested in signing last summer was Brazilian speedster Malcom. The 22-year-old chose to move to Barcelona instead last summer but has failed to make an impression in his first season at the Catalan capital.

The former Bordeaux-man has found himself on the bench for several big games and has only four goals so far in Barca colours.

According to a report in The Express, Barca manager Ernesto Valverde has told Malcom that he is surplus to requirements at the club and that he is free to leave in the summer.

The report claims the Catalans will let the Brazilian leave if they get back the £39million they paid for him last summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Malcom has struggled at Barcelona this season, he is clearly a talented player with a lot of fantastic attributes.

Pochettino might be just the man to get the 22-year-old’s career back on track and to get him to live up to his potential. Given the going rates these days for players, £39million certainly represents good value for the pacey left-footer.
