Report: Tottenham target may be available on loan with option to buy

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Ruslan Malinovskyi for months now, but a new report suggests the Atalanta midfielder may now be available on a loan-to-buy deal in January.

Despite an impressive campaign last season, with Malinovskyi bagging ten goals and seven assists (Transfermarkt), he has found himself out of favour at Atalanta this term.

The Ukraine international has been limited to just 14 appearances this season, with many of those being bit-part cameos from the bench (Transfermarkt).

With this in mind, Gazzetta dello Sport reported (16/11/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) that Malinovskyi is likely to leave the Serie A club in January.

According to Marco Conterio, Fabio Paratici and Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte have come to an agreement that Malinovskyi should be a Spurs target in the next transfer window. It’s believed Spurs have already made contact regarding a potential move (Calcio Mercato).

Now, a fresh report from TuttoMercatoWeb has revealed details about what kind of deal could be struck between the two clubs to make that move a reality.

The report highlights the fact Malinovskyi is “playing more often as a substitute than he might have expected,” meaning Atalanta will be open to letting him leave. The nature of that departure may end up seeing the 29-year-old “leave on loan with the right to buy.”

TuttoMercatoWeb add, “everything will depend on finding an interested club,” but we already know Spurs have been keeping tabs on Malinovskyi. The only stumbling block will likely be the fact “you have to satisfy an Atalanta who usually prefer not to lower their requests.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We’ve seen these kinds of deals work out well for Spurs already since Fabio Paratici came to the club, with both Cristian Romero and Dejan Kulusevski arriving on similar agreements.

It’s a win, win, really. Malinovskyi could come to Spurs in January, hopefully make an impact, and then the finer details of a permanent move can be arranged further down the line.
