Report: Tottenham target now set to become free agent this summer

According to Spanish website ABC, rumoured Tottenham target Lucas Vazquez has rejected Real Madrid’s final contract offer, with the wide man now set to leave the club when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Reports in the British press have claimed that Spurs are trying to snap up Vazquez on a free transfer in the summer.

It was previously revealed that negotiations between the 29-year-old and Madrid had hit a roadblock, with the La Liga giants not prepared to offer the pay rise he is looking for.

The Daily Mirror claimed two weeks ago that the Real Madrid wide man is open to the idea of reuniting with Jose Mourinho at Spurs.

ABC now claims that Vazquez’s future lies away from the Santiago Bernabeu as the two parties have not been able to come to an agreement on the terms of the new deal.

The experienced wide man is reportedly not satisfied with the three-year deal that is on the table, which is said to be Los Blancos’ final offer.

The report reveals that Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are all ready to offer Vazquez a more lucrative contract but Tottenham have not been mentioned as a suitor for the Spanish international.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can see why signing a player of Vazquez’s quality and versatility on a free transfer would be an appealing option for Spurs. He can potentially help address some of our issues at right-back. However, that appears less likely after Mourinho’s admission during his press conference on Friday that he sees Tanganga developing as a right-back over the next few years.
