Football Insider report that Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price for Tottenham target Piero Hincapie has now risen to more than £50m after the centre-back signed a contract extension with the Bundesliga club.
Hincapie was linked with a move to Spurs during last month’s transfer window, with BILD even claiming a couple of weeks ago that the North London club had launched a €25m (£21.9m) offer for the 21-year-old.
The Ecuadorian ended up staying put at the BayArena in January but Alasdair Gold revealed on a Q&A for Football.London that the Leverkusen star remains on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer, with the Lilywhites expected to sign two centre-backs at the end of the season.
Tottenham’s pursuit of Hincapie was seemingly dented earlier this week when Xabi Alonso announced that the player had put pen to paper on a new contract until 2027.
Football Insider have now revealed that in light of his contract extension, Leverkusen, who wanted £20m for the defender late last year, are now expected to demand more than £50m for him in the summer from the likes of Spurs.

Hincapite will undoubtedly be one of the names on Tottenham’s wishlist for a left centre-back, along with the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Even Ndicka.
I suspect Spurs’ top target will be Bastoni unless the 23-year-old also signs a new contract with Inter over the coming months.
