Report: Tottenham ‘the only team’ to make concrete move for attacking midfielder

Sky Italia have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are the only team to make a move for AS Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo this window.

Alfredo Pedulla revealed on his website earlier this week that Roma are willing to cash in on Zaniolo after player, who can also operate as a winger rejected the club’s contract offer, with the journalist adding that Spurs were leading the race to snap up the attacker.

Reporting on Friday, SportMediaSet also backed up Tottenham’s interest in the 23-year-old, revealing that the north Londoners had offered to sign the player on loan with an obligation to buy if they qualify for the Champions League.

The same information has now been reported by Sky Italia, who claim that Spurs’ proposal of a conditional obligation to buy does not convince Roma, who are looking for ‘more guarantees, especially on the economic side’.

The report states that Tottenham are the only team to currently be in talks with the Giallorossi regarding Zaniolo, with Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici said to be a long-time admirer of the Italian international.

The publication explains that the Roma hierarchy are now working with the player’s representatives to find a suitable solution for all parties before the transfer window closes.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect one of the conditions that Tottenham would want to be added to the loan deal in order to make it an obligation, will have to do with Zaniolo’s fitness and availability, considering the 23-year-old’s concerning injury record over the past couple of years.
