Report: Tottenham to hold fresh talks over deal for defender today

El Chiringuito TV have revealed that Tottenham will hold a fresh round of talks with Sporting Lisbon regarding a deal for Pedro Porro today.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday that Spurs’ player plus cash offer for Porro was rejected by Sporting, who were continuing to demand that the right-back’s £40m release clause must be met.

Record (18/01/23 via Sport Witness) also reported on the same day that the Premier League club had made an offer of 34m (£29.7m) plus bonuses for the Spaniard, which had been turned down by the Portuguese club.

The publication further added that Antonio Conte was putting pressure on the Tottenham hierarchy to get a deal for the 23-year-old over the line.

El Chiringuito TV also reported on Twitter yesterday that Spurs’ latest offer of cash plus a player was turned down by Sporting.

However, they added that the Lilywhites are not prepared to give up on the player and are expected to hold fresh conversations with the Sporting club ‘tomorrow’ (Friday).

Spurs Web Opinion

It looks fairly likely that these negotiations will drag on till the final few days of the transfer window, with Sporting seemingly not willing to relax their demands. I just hope that the deal does not collapse right towards the end of the window, thus leaving us with no time to sign an alternative.
