Report: Tottenham to step up pursuit for defender – Paratici pushing for agreement

Tottenham are allegedly set to intensify their interest in Antonio Rudiger with sporting director Fabio Paratici leading discussions to sign the Chelsea defender, according to Football Insider.

The 28-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is approaching the last six months of his deal.

Tottenham have been heavily linked in recent months, with reports claiming Antonio Conte’s side have offered a lucrative contract to tempt him into a move across London.

Football Insider now claim Spurs are now planning to step up their chase for Rudiger over the next few days, which are ‘crucial’ times in the club’s pursuit of the defender.

Paratici is said to be spearheading discussions and is hoping to make it clear to Rudiger that Conte is keen on deploying him as part of his Spurs defence.

The report also claims Spurs are hoping to reach an agreement in January to secure his services at the end of the current campaign.

Whatever happens with Rudiger, whoever lands him will need to pay him a big wage packet given how much he is currently on at Chelsea.

It isn’t too surprising to see Spurs being keen to sign him given he and Conte worked together briefly, and he would definitely fit well into the back line.
