Tottenham Hotspur will surely be looking to invest this summer after going 16 months without bringing a single new player to the club.
However, if reports are to be believed, Spurs have actually already bid for one player this window, as they look to source talent from the Championship.
Tottenham have reportedly bid £10m for Leeds’ breakthrough starlet Jack Clarke, the 18-year-old winger who forced his way into the side in the latter half of the season (Sun).
He was later named the club’s young player of the season (Leeds Twitter), and Tottenham may be hoping to replicate the shrewd business they conducted with Dele Alli a few years ago.
Clarke has already made 25 appearances for Leeds, with his full first-team debut coming in October 2018.
However, the Mirror now report that Leeds want Tottenham to double their offer for the teenager, demanding £20m for his signature. The report adds that Spurs could loan him back if they do sign him up.
Spurs Web Opinion:
For me, £10m would represent a good investment for Tottenham, but £20m is far too much. The kid is largely unproven in the Championship, let alone Premier League football. He looks a great prospect, but a £10m fee and a free loan back to the club should be enough to secure his signature. If not, look elsewhere Spurs.
