Report: Tottenham tried to hijack deal for PSG player

According to rumours in the press, Tottenham Hotspur tried to make a late play to sign PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot when his contract with PSG expires at the end of the season.

Le Parisien reported last week that Rabiot has agreed to join Barcelona in the summer after weeks of rumours linking with a host of European clubs including Spurs.

The French midfielder has fallen out the PSG hierarchy and won’t be signing a new contract with the club.

However, Mundo Deportivo report that Tottenham tried to snatch Rabiot in the last minute by offering lucrative terms to PSG.

Tottenham, of course, have a good relationship with the French giants, recently acquiring Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier from the Ligue 1 champions. The report further claims that Tottenham offered the midfielder somewhere in the region of £133,000 per week.

Rabiot would have been a fantastic coup for Spurs had they pulled it off particularly considering he was available on a free and that Tottenham have had a long-standing interest in the player.
