Report: Tottenham want La Liga attacker but not willing to meet asking price

Estadio Deportivo have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Ferran Torres but Antonio Conte’s men are not willing to offer the fee that Barcelona are demanding for the forward.

Torres has not had the expected impact since his big-money switch from Manchester City to Barca 12 months ago, with the forward having found the back of the net just twice in La Liga since the start of this season (Tranfermarkt).

Estadio Deportivo now reveal that while Barca are not desperate to get rid of the 22-year-old, they would consider selling him if they receive an offer that will allow them to recoup the majority of the €55m (£48.4m) they paid for the player.

The report states that the Premier League seems like the most realistic destination for Torres, with Spurs and Arsenal both said to have expressed interest in the former Man City star.

The publication explains, however, that the Lilywhites are not willing to pay more than €40m (£35.2m) for the Spain international – a fee that Barca do not deem acceptable.

It is asserted that Arsenal could make a move for the forward if they are unable to agree on a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ferran Torres does not strike me as a typical Conte player and there would be no value for money in paying the aforementioned figures for the 22-year-old. I can see the Spaniard going to Arsenal, given that Mikel Arteta has worked with him at Manchester City previously.
