Report: Tottenham want prolific 6ft 7 striker as Harry Kane backup

According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Genk striker Paul Onuachu as a backup to Harry Kane.

Tottenham are expected to pursue an attacker when the transfer market reopens in January, according to both Alasdair Gold and Charlie Eccleshare.

If The Mail are to be believed, the North Londoners have joined the growing list of clubs who are after Onuachu.

The Nigerian had a sensational season last time out, scoring 35 goals in 41 matches in all competitions for the Belgium club.

The 27-year-old has begun this campaign on fire once again, having netted 9 goals in 10 Jupiler Pro League games so far.

The Mail reveal that Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Southampton and West Ham have already made enquiries for the centre-forward ahead of January. Tottenham are now alleged to have joined those clubs in the race for the 6ft 7ins striker.

It is explained that Onuachu is now eager to take the next step up in his career and that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have identified him as a potential backup to Kane.

Spurs Web Opinion

Being prolific in the Belgian league is not a guarantee of success in the Premier League. However, we certainly need a striker in January to take the goalscoring burden off Kane and Son.

Onuachu would not only offer a goal threat but he would also be a good target man due to his imposing physical attributes, which is something we lack upfront.
