Report: Tottenham ‘want to ask’ about signing attacker on loan

According to SportMediaSet (as relayed by Fichajes.com), Tottenham Hotspur are set to enquire about a loan move for Al-Ittihad winger Jota.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have relayed plenty of reports which have talked up the chances of Jota potentially reuniting with Ange Postecoglou at Spurs.

This includes an update from TEAMtalk on October 4 which suggested that Tottenham are now in pole position to snap up the winger after he was frozen out of the set-up at Al-Ittihad due to the club being over the limit of foreign players allowed.

It was explained that agents representing the Portuguese star are working hard to find their client a new club and that they have been seen at a number of Tottenham’s games this season, including at the North London Derby two weeks ago.

Last week, CaughtOffside suggested that the injuries to Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon have necessitated the need for another winger for Spurs, with Jota being at the top of the club’s wishlist.

Tottenham could make loan request for Jota

SpotMediaSet have now suggested that Jota is the subject of ‘strong’ interest from the Premier League, adding that Tottenham’s interest in the player is well-known.

The outlet goes a step further and suggests that Spurs ‘want to ask’ Al-Ittihad about signing the 24-year-old on loan.

I do not see why the Saudi club would want to loan out Jota in January rather than sell him permanently and recoup the money they invested, particularly given that there would be no shortage of interest in the former Celtic man’s services.
