Report: Tottenham want to sign 17-year-old PSG starlet with one year left on contract

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be prioritising moves for up and coming talents rather than established stars this summer as they seek to avoid risky moves amidst the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic (Football Insider).

The Lilywhites have already been linked with the likes of Celtic starlet Daniel Kelly (The Herald) and Stoke City prodigy Mohamed Sankoh (Football Insider).

Reports from France now indicate that the North Londoners also have their eye on Paris Saint-German’s teenage sensation, Hubert Mbuyi-Muamba.

The 17-year-old came through the ranks at PSG and is currently the captain of the club’s Under-17s.

The teenager has been a standout performer at the back for the French giants in youth football for several years and is eventually expected to break into the club’s first-team.

However, L’Equipe (as relayed by ParisFans) recently revealed that the defender’s current deal only runs until next summer and that he is attracting interest from Porto.

RMC Sport journalist Loic Tanzi has now taken to social media to reveal that Spurs are also keeping a close eye on the youngster’s situation.

While Mbuyi-Muamba’s situation is unclear, there is no doubt that many talented young players are likely to become available this summer as clubs around Europe will need to raise some money. While there are some great deals to be had if we are smart, we should also be careful that the players we sign don’t halt the progress of the talented young defenders we have coming through from our Under-18s.
