Report: Tottenham want wonderkid who could develop into Kane’s successor

The Sun have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now weighing up a potential summer move for Brighton wonderkid Evan Ferguson.

Ferguson, who made his first-team debut for Brighton last season, has played seven times in the Premier League for the Seagulls so far this campaign, having scored three goals and provided two assists (Transfermarkt).

The 18-year-old, who is the youngest player to score in the Premier League for the South Coast club, is now thought to be attracting envious glances from top clubs.

The Sun state that Tottenham are one of the clubs who are eyeing a move for Ferguson and add that the Lilywhites could face competition from Chelsea.

It is explained that the Lilywhites regard the Republic of Ireland internationally highly and even believe that the teenager has the potential to be Harry Kane’s long-term successor.

Chelsea are also said to rate Ferguson highly, with the youngster being signed by Brighton when Graham Potter was in charge at the Amex Stadium.

Ferguson is contracted to Brighton until 2026 (Transfermarkt) and the Seagulls are thus in a strong position to reject approaches for the 18-year-old in the summer.

The striker might also not be in a hurry to leave, given that he is getting first-team opportunities under Roberto De Zerbi.
