Report: Tottenham weighing up summer move for Inter Milan midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up the possibility of signing Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic this summer, according to ESPN.

The 33-year-old is out of contract at the San Siro this summer, and while contract talks are said to be continuing, they are hoping to reach a deal before his current agreement comes to an end.

Fellow Serie A outfit Juventus are reported to be at the front of the queue to land the Croatian international, with the player becoming increasingly likely that he will depart Inter.

Tottenham were linked with a move for the former Bayern Munich player while Jose Mourinho was in charge of the north London outfit (Eurosport).

Antonio Conte worked with Perisic while he was in charge of the Nerazzurri last season having led them to the Italian top flight title with the midfielder open to the prospect of linking up with the 52-year-old once again.

Spurs are said to have been ‘encouraged’ that a deal can be reached, despite sources in Italy believing that the player favours Juventus.

Perisic is said to be asking for a three-year deal worth around £100,000-a-week in wages to remain at his current club.

Conte is reported to be keen to add experience to his squad during the summer and is eyeing around six new signings, including some fresh faces at wing-back and is a fan of Perisic’s versatility.

It would seem unlikely that Tottenham would offer Perisic a three-year deal at this stage of his career, however, a wage in the region of £100,000-a-week would comfortably fit within the club’s wage structure.
