Report: Tottenham will let midfielder go if the ‘right offer’ arrives this summer

After reported interest from Atletico Madrid, among other clubs, it has emerged that Tottenham Hotspur would be open to selling Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer if they receive a suitable offer.

Hojbjerg has been with Tottenham for three years now, having joined the North London side from Southampton in the summer of 2020.

The Danish international has been a regular starter throughout the tenure of managers such as Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Despite a frustrating campaign in general last year, Hojbjerg actually managed fairly impressive attacking returns with five goals and seven assists in 44 appearances for Spurs in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Nevertheless, it has been suggested that the 27-year-old may not quite fit into new boss Ange Postecoglous plans (90 Min).

The combative midfielder has apparently been attracting interest from the Bundesliga (Florian Plettenberg), and more recently was linked with Atletico Madrid (TMW).

Spurs are open to offers for Hojbjerg

Now, a fresh report from The Athletic has shed further light on Hojbjerg’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur, and it seems the club would be willing to let the midfielder go.

The player himself is also thought to be “open” to leaving the Lilywhites this summer.

At this stage, it is believed “no contact has been made” by any club, but Tottenham would allow Hojbjerg to depart should the “right offer” arrive.

It is suggested the fact that Spurs are “well-stocked” in central midfield, including “emerging” young players like Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr, has left the club more willing to accept an offer for Hojbjerg.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’d be really disappointed to see Hojbjerg go, but this notion certainly seems to be gaining traction now.

It would be a shame to lose a player of his experience and with his kind of work ethic, but I have faith in Postecoglou and the players he deems worthy of a place in his squad.
