Report: Tottenham will listen to offers for a defensive quartet in January

Tottenham Hotspur will have a busy January transfer window if the latest report out of Football Insider is correct. The news outlet say that one of their sources claims Spurs will listen to offers for a defensive quartet in the winter window.

These four players are made up of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose, and Serge Aurier, a back four that Spurs have fielded this season.

However, Vertonghen and Alderweireld both see their contracts come to an end in the summer, so Spurs could be tempted to cash in at the last opportunity in January.

Danny Rose’s contract also ends in 2021, while Serge Aurier has had a horror last month in a Spurs shirt, including a red card against Southampton and a conceded penalty at Anfield.

Tottenham would still be left with the likes of Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon, Juan Foyth, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, and Kyle Walker-Peters if these four defenders were phased out.
