Jeunes Footeux have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Rennes midfielder Lovro Majer this summer.
Majer had an impressive debut season in Ligue 1 after making the move to Rennes in 2021 but he has struggled to replicate the same sort of performances this season.
Jeunes Footeux state that the attacking midfielder is going through a ‘difficult period’ in France and would thus be open to an exit this summer.
The publication adds that despite his struggles to get game time, Majer is seen by many clubs across Europe as a ‘talented and promising player’, which is why there is no shortage of interest in his services.
The report states that Tottenham are one of the sides interested in the 25-year-old, with the North London club said to be ‘keeping a close eye’ on his performances.
It is asserted that the Lilywhites, along with a few other clubs, would be ‘willing to invest’ in Majer this summer, with Rennes ‘clearly open’ to selling the player.
The publication reveals that Bruno Genesio’s men value the Croatian international at €30m- €35m (£26.5m-£30.9m) but might have to lower those demands.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is not surprising to see Spurs being linked with so many attacking midfielders as a number eight should be a priority irrespective of which manager replaces Antonio Conte.
However, one would expect the club to go after a much higher calibre of player than Majer, although it appears that Maddison might be out of our reach if we fail to finish in the top four.
