Report: Tottenham winger has completed move to Watford

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that academy winger, Maurizio Pochettino, son of former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, has completed a move to Watford.

Pochettino, who was born in Spain, joined the Tottenham academy in 2017 from Southampton after his father took over as the club’s manager.

The 19-year-old has impressed since arriving at the club and stayed on despite his father being sacked by the North London club in November 2019.

It was even reported during the summer that Spurs had offered the winger a new contract and he has enjoyed a solid campaign for the club’s Under-23s so far.

However, The Daily Mail reveal that Pochettino has decided that a move to Watford would give him a better shot of getting first-team football.

The report reveals that the youngster has signed a four-year contract with the Championship club and will first link up with the Hornets’ U23s, although coach Xisco Munoz will be keeping a keen eye on his progress.

It seemed unlikely that Pochettino was going to get first-team opportunities at Spurs anytime soon. So, this is a brave decision by the youngster to step down and looks like the right one for his development.
