Report: Tottenham ‘won’t let go’ of the idea of signing one attacker in January

The latest report from TuttoMercatoWeb indicates that Tottenham Hotspur are still very much in the hunt for Ruslan Malinovskyi and the player is ready to leave Atalanta in January.

If it feels like these rumours have been circling for a long time, it’s because they have. Spurs wanted to sign Malinovskyi in the summer but that didn’t work out at the time, and the speculation has continued ever since (Sport Mediaset).

Despite scoring ten goals and laying on seven assists last season (Transfermarkt), Malinovskyi has fallen out of favour with Atalanta this term.

He has just five starts in Serie A this season (Transfermarkt) and it is widely believed that the club will let him leave (Gazzetta dello Sport 16/11/22 as relayed by Sport Witness).

It had been suggested that both West Ham and Marseille were tracking the Ukraine international recently (Ignazio Genuardi), but just days ago, TuttoMercatoWeb claimed the French side had cooled their interest in the versatile playmaker.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (28/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness), Atalanta are hoping to receive an offer that meets their asking price of £13.2 million for Malinovskyi, whose current contract expires at the end of this season.

Now, the latest from TMW suggests Spurs are still very much interested in securing the services of the 29-year-old and “won’t let go” of the idea that they can bring him to North London in January.

The report adds the player is “ready to leave” and claims it is already being “taken for granted” that Malinovskyi will move on.

Spurs Web Opinion

At this point, I would be very surprised if this move didn’t happen. We have held an interest in Malinovskyi for quite some time, we know what Atalanta want for him, and the player is keen to move on too. There may be better players out there, but for the money they’re wanting, I can’t see a better value-for-money deal out there.
