Report: Tottenham working in ‘concrete’ way to sign Lautaro Martinez this summer

Tottenham are beginning to work towards signing Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, who could leave the club this summer, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

Spurs have been credited with an interest in the Argentina international Martinez previously (Football.London), having failed to secure his signature last summer amid the uncertainty surrounding the future of Harry Kane.

But TuttoMercatoWeb now claim Tottenham have reignited their pursuit of the 24-year-old, who could leave Inter at the end of the season.

The report states Antonio Conte remains an admirer of Martinez and wants to work with him again after spending two successful years together at the Nerazzurri, which yielded the Serie A title last season.

The report adds that Tottenham have started to work in a ‘concrete’ way to land the striker, who has scored 12 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions this term (Transfermarkt).

A potential deal for Martinez will not come easy though, as he is contracted with Inter until June 2026 after signing a new contract earlier this season (Marca).

Spurs Web Opinion

A player like Martinez would be a statement signing but you then wonder if Conte wants to play with two out and out strikers. A strike force of him and Kane would be something to behold, but you have to question whether Spurs will shell out for what will be an expensive asking price.
