The Athletic have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now working on a potential deal to sign Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus this month.
This comes just hours after the frustrating news for Spurs fans that Liverpool have seemingly pipped them to a deal for Luis Diaz from Porto.
Tottenham reportedly agreed on a deal worth £40 million plus £8 million in add-ons with Porto (The Sun), but Diaz preferred a move to Anfield instead (Sky Sports).
The Athletic claim that if a deal happens for Kulusevski in January, it would likely be a loan with an option or obligation to buy, as the 21-year-old is contracted until 2025.
Paratici, who left Juventus to join Spurs as the club’s new managing director of football in the summer, is said to be a ‘big admirer’ of the winger.
The Swedish international has played 27 games across all competitions for Juventus this season, scoring twice and assisting three in that time (TransferMarkt).
CBS Sports previously reported that Spurs were willing to pay over £40m to sign the Juventus star.
Spurs Web Opinion:
It feels as though this move has been triggered by Tottenham missing out on Luis Diaz. Conte clearly wants a new winger in his squad, although I would argue it’s one of Spurs’ most stacked positions. Fingers crossed this deal can progress quickly.
