Report: Tottenham would have to pay £43m to sign 16-goal star this summer

According to the print edition of SportBILD (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur would have to spend a huge amount to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush this summer.

Marmoush has been one of the best forwards on show in the Bundesliga so far this season, having scored 16 goals and registered six assists in 40 games in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Bild say that the 25-year-old is now ‘being hunted by English clubs like Tottenham‘ who see the striker as a good option to bolster their forward line.

Frankfurt will play hardball on Omar Marmoush

However, the outlet points out that Frankfurt could receive a financial boost if Borussia Dortmund win the Champions League final as it would mean that they would qualify for the Champions League despite finishing in 6th place.

If that does happen, the Geman club’s coffers will be boosted by an extra €25m (£21.4m) in addition to the matchday revenue for the home matches.

Frankfurt might thus not be in that desperate need to sell their assets this summer in order to fund moves for their main transfer targets.

As a result, it is alleged that the Bundesliga side would not let Marmoush leave on the cheap and could demand as much as €50m (£42.9m) for the Egypt international.

Spurs Web Opinion

Marmoush is a very good fit for Postecoglou’s system, given his versatility, technical ability and work-rate off the ball. However, I certainly do not see Spurs spending upwards of £40m on the Frankfurt star as there are better options in that price range.
