Report: Tottenham would have to pay over £26m to land forward this summer

Multiple French outlets (Jeunes Footeux and Made in Paillade) have now talked up the possibility of Tottenham target Elye Wahi leaving Montpellier this summer.

Wahi has established himself as one of the best young attacking talents in Ligue 1 since first breaking into Montpellier’s starting eleven around two and a half years ago.

The 20-year-old, who can play across the front three, has scored 12 times and provided two assists in 24 league games so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham’s interest in Wahi first came to light last month, when Telefoot claimed that the Lilywhites were keeping a close eye on the youngster ahead of the summer transfer window.

Other French outlets have now also named Antonio Conte’s men are potential suitors for the Montpellier star’s signature.

Jeunes Footeux have now claimed that Spurs have been following Wahi ‘closely’ and that an offer from the Premier League club for the player cannot be ruled out in the summer.

The publication adds that the Ligue 1 club expect a fee of more than €30m (£26.2m) to cash in on the forward at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Made in Paillade have also credited Tottenham with an interest in Wahi and assert that it would be ‘impossible’ for the France Under-21 international to stay at Stade de la Mosson beyond the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham will certainly not be the only club eyeing a summer move for Wahi, who looks set to be the next breakout attacking talent in French football.

Perhaps, Paratici is considering a deal similar to the Sarr one whereby the 20-year-old is signed and loaned back to Montpellier for next season.
