Report: Tottenham’s bid for 19-year-old set to be accepted

The Athletic have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to complete the signing of non-league talent Ollie Tanner.

Tanner, who can operate on either wing or has an attacking midfielder, has impressed for Lewes in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

The Athletic report that Brighton previously made an offer for the teenager and were ready to let him return to Lewes on loan. However, the Seagulls’ offer for the winger was allegedly turned down by the non-league club.

Tanner, who previously had spells in Arsenal’s and Charlton’s academy, had allegedly been training at Hotspur Way for the past fortnight.

It is revealed that Chris Powell, head of academy coaching at Spurs, watched the winger in action in Lewes’ 2-2 draw against Brightlingsea Regent.

Tottenham allegedly submitted an offer for Tanner on Saturday, which is now set to be accepted. Unlike Brighton’s offer, The Athletic explain the Spurs bid does not involve the youngster being loaned back to Lewes.
