Report: Tottenham’s first offer for midfielder is expected to be rejected

Fanatik have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now ready to make an opening offer for Fenerbahce star Sebastian Szymanski.

Szymanski is having an outstanding season at Istanbul, with 12 goals and 17 assists to his name so far and it has been reported by various Turkish outlets over the last few weeks that the midfielder is on Tottenham’s radar (Aksam).

Fanatik have now offered an update on Spurs’ purusit of the player, explaining that they have scouted him extensively over the last couple of months.

Spurs make an offer for Sebastian Szymanski

The report states that Szymanski has ‘managed to convince’ the North London club with his fine displays for the Yellow Canaries.

It is explained that Tottenham expect Giovani Lo Celso to leave this summer and want to sign the Poland international to take the Argentine’s place in the squad.

Fanatik allege that Spurs plan to knock on Fenerbahçe’s door and make the ‘first offer’ of €20m (£17.2m) when the transfer window opens.

However, the publication adds that such a bid is unlikely to be accepted, as the Turkish club said to value Szymanski at €25m (£21.5m).

Spurs Web Opinion

Most of the speculation linking Szymanski to Tottenham seems to be coming from Turkish outlets. I doubt that Spurs’ pursuit of the player has gone beyond the initial scouting stage, particularly since no British outlets have named the 25-year-old as one of the Lilywhites’ main midfield targets.
