Report: Tottenham’s interest in 21-year-old ‘more concrete’ than Man Utd’s

Manchester Evening News have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are more likely to sign Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey than Manchester United.

The Daily Mail reported last summer that Spurs were eyeing Lamptey as a replacement for Serge Aurier but the North Londoners eventually ended up signing Emerson Royal instead.

Lamptey was once again rumoured to be on Spurs’ radar ahead of the January transfer window (FourFourTwo).

According to The Times, Antonio Conte’s men turned their attention to Wolves’ Adama Traore as they found the Brighton right-back to be ‘too expensive’.

Traore now seems to be edging closer to a move to Tottenham, with Conte allegedly planning on converting the pacy winger into a right wing-back (Football Insider).

However, if MEN’s latest update is to be believed, Lamptey still remains on Tottenham’s radar. The report suggests that, despite the speculation linking Manchester United with a move for the Brighton man, Tottenham’s interest in the 21-year-old is ‘more concrete’.

Perhaps Spurs could consider returning for Lamptey in the summer as the jury is still out on whether Emerson Royal can feature as a wing-back. I would not be surprised if the North Londoners decided to cash in on the Brazilian at the end of the season, just a year after signing him.
