Report: Tottenham’s interest in Argentine star has now cooled

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Lazio midfielder Joaquin Correa has now cooled.

Reports first emerged back in June that Fabio Paratici was keen on snapping up Correa, who was allegedly valued at around £34m by Lazio.

The Argentine is thought to be surplus to requirements under new Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri, with some sources even alleging last month that Spurs had made an opening offer of around €30m (£25.6m) for the attacking midfielder.

Corriere dello Sport have now revealed that the 26-year-old is set for talks with Sarri about his future in the coming days.

The report explains that Lazio will make a final decision on Correa’s future, as well as their other transfer plans, after those talks.

As things stand, it is asserted that the Serie A club plan on cashing in on the player in order to fund moves for their targets.

While Lazio are said to value Correa at €35m-€40m (£29.8m-£34.1m), Paris Saint-Germain have now ‘slipped away’ while Tottenham’s interest, as well as the of Arsenal and Everton, has now cooled.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not expect Spurs to sign Correa or any other number ten this summer. Not only does Nuno not tend to employ a traditional ten like Correa but it also seems increasingly unlikely that Dele Alli will be sold as the window goes on.
