The Evening Standard have reported that Chelsea are keeping track of Pedro Porro amidst Tottenham’s pursuit of the right-wing-back this January.
The report claims that Spurs have another round of talks scheduled with Sporting Lisbon for Wednesday after their latest bid of around £32m was turned down by the Portuguese club.
These mid-week talks will allegedly go a long way to deciding whether the defender stays put at Sporting or makes a move to the Premier League in the January window.
Sporting continue to insist that Porro will only leave if his £40m release clause is met, and Spurs have had multiple bids turned down, including one that featured Davinson Sanchez going the other way.
However, with Chelsea now tracking the 23-year-old, it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy and co are pressured into increasing their offer over the next couple of days.
Spurs Web Opinion:
This deal feels very close now. I suspect either Tottenham and Sporting will agree on a price with add-ons or Chelsea will swoop in and use their seemingly limitless money to snatch Porro from under Spurs’ noses – Willian style.
