Report: Tottenham’s record-signing Ndombele sees value decrease by £27m

Tottenham have seen the value of their record signing, Tanguy Ndombele, drop by over €30m in the time he has been at the Lilywhites, claim CIES Football Observatory.

Spurs signed Ndombele from French side, Lyon in the summer of 2019 for a club-record fee of £58m (Transfermarkt).

However, despite a sensational debut where he scored against Aston Villa, Ndombele has often failed to impress with his efforts on the pitch (BBC). Lacklustre performances have led to questions over the Frenchman’s fitness and desire.

Even Spurs boss, Jose Mourinho, felt the need to call out Ndombele’s work rate after hauling him off at half-time against Burnley in March (Independent).

Ndombele’s disappointing start to life in London has seen his Football Observatory value decrease from €78.9m in January to €48.8m today. The decrease in value of just over €30m, amounts to 27 million pounds.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ndombele joined Spurs with huge expectations from the fans. Perhaps we have misunderstood his role as a midfielder, however, the Burnley performance, in particular, was unacceptable. Here is hoping he can (and wants to) turn it around when we return next week.
